Wedding Invitations - What to Order

Ordering your invitations and stationary is one of the most difficult aspects of planning a wedding. All 'Invitations', 'Announcements' and 'Thank You' cards come in matching combination packages.

One of the first things you want to order is your engagement announcement. Sending a card to your family and friends lets them know the good news of your wedding.

Don’t forget that you will need to order bridal shower and rehearsal dinner invitations as well. Also, keep a bridal shower gift list since you will need to send them thank you notes. Remember to include directions to each site.

It’s now time to send your wedding invitations to all your guests. When you order your invitations make sure to include the following items:

1) Invitation
2) Mailing Envelope (usually addressed for you by a professional)
3) Envelope Seals (stickers or hot wax with an emblem)
4) Response Cards
5) Pre-postage return envelopes

NOTE: All of these items must be included in the same envelope when you mail your invitation, which means your postage will be more than the standard $0.37.

During the ceremony, it is custom for guests to receive a Wedding Program. This lists the bridal party names and order of events. Some chose to include a particular reading or poem as well as any special acknowledgements (ex: officiates name)

After the wedding, many brides send an announcement along with a photo to those who were not able to attend. Don’t forget to order these.

While opening your wedding gifts, be sure to keep a detailed list. It’s a nice gesture to send thank you cards to your guests after the ceremony and reception. Personalize them by writing a specific regarding the gift they bought. If a guest gives you a card with cash, then inform them of what the cash was used for.
