Wedding Reception - VFW or Club?

If your money situation will not allow you to hold your reception at a fancy hotel or banquet hall then consider your local fire station or VFW hall. Most of these places have some type of banquet room.

When you and your fiancé first see the room where your reception will be held, it will be bare. This is where decorations, table linens and creative lighting come into play. It’s amazing how inviting you can make an empty room look.

Keep your table linens to a simple white and use colored napkins to match the color of your bridesmaids’ dresses. The centerpieces should be kept simple and intimate such as candles and small floral arrangements and place them on mirrors to enhance the beauty. A nice added touch is table skirting around the food, cake and gift tables. It’s a simple accessory that makes a big difference.

Don’t worry too much on the lighting, this is something your DJ is trained to handle and they can ensure you romance during the slow songs and colors during the upbeats.

Just remember, when your standing in that empty room, imagine all the possibilities before you make a decision.
