Wedding Photo's & Video's - Save Money

If you’re not careful, wedding photography and videography costs can get out of control. A typical couple will spend about $1,200 on each of these services. You want to make sure your big day is captured beautifully, without going over budget. After speaking with a few professionals, they were able to share some money saving tips that will not sacrifice the quality of your video or photos.

-Limit their time - It is not necessary to have a professional at your home while you and your bridal party prepare for the ceremony. It is also not necessary to capture multiple photos and video of your guests dancing throughout the night. Try choosing a ceremony only package, this means the professional will be present to photograph your ceremony and take the formal pictures, but they will not be present at the reception.

-Choose a package instead of purchasing items separately. Chances are, there will not be a package that will offer you exactly what you are looking for. However; you may be able to negotiate swapping one item, or service, for one that you really want.

-Keep in mind if you choose the smallest or least expensive package it could end up costing you more if you decide to purchase additional prints while you view the results.

-If a larger package is offered to you, take into consideration everything this includes. The extras can include a large framed photo of you and your spouse and/or extra videotapes and photo albums for family members. You want to pay for the images captured, not the packaging, as they tend to be overpriced.

-Have your friends and/or family members help you with these services. Most of us know someone who is experienced with a video or high quality still camera, and generally are more than willing to help. This can save you about $1,000.

-Purchasing black and white photos and video does boost the cost of the package. They are a nice added touch, but keep them to a minimum.

-A photographer will charge extra for travel. It’s a good idea to choose only one location for your formal pictures instead of traveling to multiple locations.
