Parents

The parents’ attire has always matched the color scheme of the wedding. However; weddings these days have tended to break away from tradition. If the mother of the bride is not flattered by your choice of color, it’s ok for her to wear an off white or black dress.

The mothers can also choose a formal gown from a department store instead of the average "mother’s dress" from the bridal boutique. This will give your mother not only a sense of style but more choices.

The father does generally wear a traditional tuxedo, although sometimes exceptions can be made for a department store suit. This decision is up to the engaged couple and their parents.

The parents’ attire also should correspond with the style of your wedding. If you’re not having a formal wedding, its ok for the mother’s to wear a knee length dress with sandals and the father’s do not have to wear a jacket and/or tie.
