Wedding Invitations - F.A.Q.
"When should I order my wedding invitations?"
Between 3 - 5 months prior to your wedding date is a safe estimate.
Most printing companies offer 48-72 hour rush delivery.
However; the expense for this service can become costly. Ordering
invitations in advance will allow you sufficient time for assembling
and addressing as well as providing extra time should a mistake
occur or you find you need additional invitations.
"How many invitations should I order?"
Make a list of all your guests. Married couples and families with
children under the age of 18 receive one invitation. Any single
guest over the age of 18 should receive their own invitation.
Its recommend that you order an additional 25 invitations
to cover any addressing mistakes or last minute guests. Reordering
invitations is more costly than including extras with your initial
order.
"How many 'Thank You' cards should I order?"
It is suggested that your order the same amount of Thank You cards,
as you do invitations. Use these notes for gifts you receive at
the wedding, for your engagement, showers and the bachlorette
party.
"What is a response card?"
A response card is included with each invitation and provides
a mean for each guest to accept or decline the invitation. Be
sure to set a response date several weeks before the wedding so
that you will have enough time to notify caterers and other services
of the final guest count. Placing a stamp on the return addressed
envelope is a great gesture but not necessary.
"What is a map card?"
For weddings that are either out of town, at a hard to find locations
or if you have a lot of friends and family members from out of
state, then you should include a map card with the invitations.
Be sure the driving directions are from a major landmark such
as an airport, large city, turnpike or any other major highway.
You can also include local hotel and local attraction information.
"How much will is cost to mail my invitations?"
The best way to determine the exact postage is to take all the
completed invitations with all the inserts into the post office
and have it weighed for proper postage.
