Food & Beverage - Cocktail Hour
As a good host and hostess, you want to keep your
guests entertained and comfortable between the time of the ceremony
and reception. This is where the cocktail hour comes into the
planning stages. Even though it seems like an unnecessary event,
this is exactly what is needed to keep your guests happy.
There is a large variety of hot and cold Hors
Doeuvres that can be butler served or you can let the guests
help themselves. You will have to check with your caterer or reception
hall coordinator to discuss your options for hot and cold Hors
Doeuvres.
Some couples will opt to just serve drinks during
the cocktail hour. This would include wine, beer, soda, coffee,
tea and water as the second and top shelf liquor is not introduced
until after the cocktail hour.
You want to keep your choice of music subtle and
all instrumental. This will create a relaxing atmosphere and could
even spark a conversation or two between guests.
The cocktail hour is the time for your guests
to mingle with other relatives they may not have seen in a long
time and it also gives the bride and grooms family, time to get
acquainted with each other.
Its a known fact, food and drink bring people
together and this is exactly what you want your guests to do while
awaiting your arrival.
